In the quest to fit in a smaller jean size, many people search for ways to lose inches fast. Losing weight is tricky when you deal in inches because pounds dont always equal inches. You may lose ten pounds, but find that you have not lost anything inch-wise. This may leave you frustrated, but dont let this make you give up, because you are on the right track. It may not seem like it, but it takes time for your body to tone down the way it should.

When you exercise on a quest to lose weight, you want to build muscle as you lose fat. When this happens, the tape might not show inches lost, even though you have lost five or ten pounds. Muscle should be replacing fat. You want to lose the inches, but if they dont seem to be leaving, you may be in better shape than you first thought. You may be able to lose inches fast, but they may reappear in the blink of an eye if you do it improperly.

When you diet to lose more than a few pounds, you will find that there are times when you lose inches fast, and there are times when your waist seems to remain at the same number for weeks. Dont let this get to you, and keep going, so long as the pounds seem to be coming off. If you get stuck, and nothing seems to be happening, keep chipping away, and step up your physical efforts.

Technically speaking, weight loss means a reduction in our current weight. If you look the two words in the dictionaries, Webster or Oxford (or just about any English dictionary), they would yield the same meaning as the one mentioned above.

In this modern time, they say that thin is the 'in thing', therefore any method that results to weight loss are sellable and very appealing to many. These methods of losing weight may make use of diet programs, the use of the gym, sports and other methods of exercise and all these lead to one thing: the loss of weight.

There are two major kinds of weight loss: the unintentional and the intentional. Unintentional weight loss is usually those that are a result or consequence of illnesses which are mostly chronic or severe. You may lose weight after a severe fever even when you do not intend to lose some of them. Chronic or severe illnesses such as diabetes mellitus and the attack of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in the body may cause the individuals with the aforementioned illnesses to lose weight. Aside from these two severe sicknesses, there are still others that can contribute to the loss of weight experienced by many people.

While unintentional weight loss is unplanned, the opposite of that is the intentional loss of weight. Cosmetic surgery such as liposuction may also be counted as a method of intentionally losing weight---this is a method mostly used by stars in the showbiz business aside from their daily diet and exercise programs.

Because of the use of all these technological advances in the many newly-devised methods of losing weight, scientists have found out that some of these are harmful to the body of individuals who desire to lose weight. To remedy this critical situation, many therapeutic techniques in losing weight have been developed. The therapeutic techniques employed in losing weight appeal to many because they are less intrusive and have less harmful effect on the body.

The techniques under this big umbrella of methods of losing weight are those most often recommended by doctors, family physicians and other medical experts on losing weight. The techniques here mostly used are the adjustment of eating patterns and increase in physical activity---lots of exercise! Weight Loss for Women Over 40 - Love Yourself First

If you are 40-something, you know that it is getting harder to manage your weight. This is true for most, but it doesnt mean you cannot still maintain a healthy weight.

First you may need to re-frame your outlook. If you are dreaming about your high school weight, you may need a reality check. For some, this may be possible, for others it may simply be unrealistic and unnecessary. When determining what your goal weight is, consider this:
fi Calculate your BMI (see below). This is the best way to assess whether you really need to lose weight, or you just want to look better in your jeans. If your BMI is in the healthy range of 19-24, then you can be assured that your weight is not adversely affecting your health. If it is over 24, then you could reduce your risk for disease by losing a few pounds.

fi Love yourself first. If you think that losing fifteen pounds will solve all of your body image problems, you are probably wrong. Work with a therapist or life coach so that you can come to peace with who you are and the body shape you were born with. Try not to let your appearance be your biggest motivator to eat well and exercise.
fi Consider inches, not just the scale. Take your waist, arm and thigh measurements now. Then compare every two weeks for three to four months after you have been exercising and eating better. You may not always see huge losses on the scale, but lost inches means lost fat and better health.

Secondly you need to make some changes in your eating habits. Most women at this age are pretty busy. They may be juggling a family, career and aging parents. This often adds up to skipping meals, eating junk food, and being dehydrated! Keep these tips in mind each day to get you out of a bad habit:
fi Sit down and take a lunch break. While breakfast may be quick, lunch should not have to be on the run. Often we think that we are saving time by eating at our desks or in our car! But your body and mind need some downtime and a twenty to thirty minute break will likely leave you more focused and energized. Plus, sitting down will help you eat more slowly, which will help you eat less and stop when youre full.

fi Plan two to three snacks a day. If you work out of the home, bring two snacks with you each day. If you work at home, choose your snacks in the morning or the night before. You may even want to post a Healthy Snack List on your refrigerator to help you make good choices. Portions are important. Snack ideas: Low fat yogurt; 1-2 ounces pretzels; low fat string cheese with 6 wheat crackers; low fat granola or high fiber bar; 10 animal crackers and a glass of skim milk; a piece of fresh fruit or a cup of melon or berries; raw carrots; hummus with 6-8 wheat crackers; a glass of low fat chocolate milk.
fi Consider keeping a food log. Writing down what we eat helps keep us accountable for all the little tidbits and go into our mouth.
fi Be patient. Weight loss after forty is slower than it was before. You have to simply accept this. Make small changes, stick with them, and you will eventually see results.

Finally, exercise is more important than ever. Again, with the busy and often content lives that 40-something women may lead, they may get relaxed on exercise. Its never too late to start an exercise program. Check with your doctor first to find out if there should be any restrictions, then shoot for exercising 3-5 times a week. While this may seem like a lot, keep in mind, household activities count too. So consider more formal exercise (like jogging, walking, weight lifting) to be done 3-4 times a week.

The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and American Heart Association (AHA) have released updated physical activity recommendations for adults and older adults. The recommendations are an update and clarification of the 1995 recommendation on the types and amounts of physical activity needed by healthy adults and older adults to improve and maintain health. Specifically, the guidelines recommend all healthy adults aged 18 to 65 years need moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity for a minimum of 30 minutes on five days each week or vigorous-intensity aerobic physical activity for a minimum of 20 minutes on three days each week. So the good news is that once you increase your intensity, you can get by with 3 days a week of activity. Keep these ideas in mind when planning out your activities:
fi If you are not active at all, start walking. A nice walk outside each morning will be a great way to start your day. Even if you only have time for a 30-minute walk, start there. Some activity is always better than no activity.

fi If you are already a walker, try jogging. Increasing the intensity of any activity will help boost your metabolism. Start by jogging for 30 seconds, then one minute, and continue alternating minutes of jogging with walking. Before you know it you will be jogging two miles.
fi Dont hire it all out. Often individuals may have a comfortable lifestyle at this point and be able to hire folks to do the weeding, mulching, dig a new garden, mowing, or housework. Consider doing some of these old chores yourself. Shoveling mulch builds muscle and burns lots of calories!
fi Try weight lifting. Weight training doesnt mean you have to turn into a body builder nor does it mean you have to go to a gym. If you want to join a gym, thats fine. It is a good idea to get some initial training from a personal trainer to be sure you are doing the activities with good form, but once you have the form down, you can easily work out at home. Invest in a set of light hand weights (usually 2, 3 and 5 pounds each) and start doing repetitions. We lose muscle as we age and weight lifting is one way to build some back and burn more calories.

Take your weight loss goals one at a time and you will see results eventually. In the meantime, think about your short-term goals and how eating healthy foods and using your muscles keeps your body well. Before you know it you will be inches smaller and a few pounds lighter

To put it simply, this company is a brand of dietary supplements, most of which are advertised to lead to weight loss. In fact, this company claims to be the weight loss and wellness leader since 1992. When it comes to their weight loss aids, this company appears to promote products that contain trendy and fad ingredients. However, we will still take a closer look at the Fit America line to determine how it can help dieters achieve weight loss goals.

One of the diet supplements promoted by this company is CortiControl. Like many other products on the market, this supplement claims to generate weight loss and reduce stress levels by controlling the hormone Cortisol.

We are surprised to see that a company that claims to be a weight loss industry leader promotes a product that claims to control Cortisol levels in order to reduce fat. While there are many similar products on the market, most are considered to be nothing but junk since leading research institutes have debunked their claims through careful research and studies. There is absolutely no proof that Cortisol has any effect on weight gain or weight loss, and the latest research indicates that supplements that suggest otherwise are nothing but scams.

Again, we are disappointed that Fit America promotes such a supplement, and it makes us wonder about the quality of their other products as well. Currently, the company website is offering many of their products at reduced prices. While sales always entice consumers, they can raise a red flag on our part. We have to wonder why so many of the products are now reduced in price, and we suspect it may be because the company is having a hard time selling these supplements to consumers.

While we were only able to primarily look at one of Fit America's supplements, this company does offer a wide array of choices. Again, we are concerned that a manufacturer that claims to be an industry leader would promote a diet method that has been proven to not work. We also want to note that the FTC has charged promoters of Cortisol supplements with making false and misleading claims, but this company does not appear to be on their list of offenders at this time. While this may not be the best available product, we understand that there are some dieters who may want to learn more about this company and its diet products, so we have posted a couple of links below to some additional articles.

Can Using Weight Loss Forums Be Beneficial

Typically, you can find a weight loss forums that you can join no matter what type of diet you are doing. If you are going about things in a low carb type of way, you can find forums that are dedicated to those using the Atkins eating play, or for those that prefer South Beach dieting. These are full of people who are just starting out just like you may be, and there are also those that have gone through and have maintained their success for a number of months or even years. These weight loss forums are also full of those halfway there, or almost to their goal weight.

One great thing about weight loss forums is that you don't have to wait for a weekly meeting to find out the answer to any question that you may have. You can post any time of the day or night, and you will probably get an answer within a few hours if not within a few minutes. You can also go back through the older posts that you can find in forums for weight loss to see if someone else has already asked your question and if there are any good answers. You may even find information on questions you have not yet had.

When it comes to dieting, motivation and results are important for someone to have the will to continue. Weight loss forums can have both of these in spades. Those members that have had success often share their stories, and even their before and after pictures. These can be immensely motivating, and a great reminder as to why you are doing what you are doing. These folks often stick around to help you because there were others that did the same for them, and that may have been one of the major keys to their success.

Ideal Weight Tables - Are They Worth Using?

The most familiar method of measuring ideal weight is the height and weight chart. These tables, tell you how much you should weigh based on your height. Although these tables are still popular, they are very ambiguous, especially to athletes and bodybuilders who carry more muscle than most people do. "Ideal weights" from height-weight tables do not take body fat into account; therefore, they cannot accurately recommend how much you should weigh. Body Mass Index (BMI) is another familiar way to determine whether someone is at a "healthy weight".

Like the height and weight tables, BMI is a valueless measure of good health because it takes only height and weight into account. In addition, it does not take into account fat versus muscle tissue. Body builders and other athletes carry more lean body mass than the average person and will therefore be classified as overweight if BMI is used as the basis for determination. The significance in measuring body fat percentage is so you can tell between fat and muscle, which the ideal weight and BMI calculator does not. Average percentage body fat vary among the sexes and among different age groups.

The female hormone estrogen causes women to have about 5% more body fat than men. The average woman has about 23% body fat and the average man approximately 17%. In both sexes, body fat increases with age while lean body mass decreases. The following are the techniques widely used for determination of body fat percentage.Underwater Weighing (Hydrostatic)

Underwater Weighing has consistently been considered the best for measuring the body fat percentage in comparison with other measurement techniques. The basis for hydrostatic weighing is the fact that fat floats and muscle sinks.

To measure your fat by underwater weighing, the person must remain immersed underwater in a chair that is hanged from a scale. The fatter you are, the more buoyant you will be, and the more buoyant you are, the less you will weigh underwater. Neverthless, underweight weighing has its own limitations; the major one is the difficulty of being immersed in water. Notwithstanding, underwater weighing underestimates the fat percentage for persons with denser bones. Unless race, age, and sex are vigilantly taken into account, the estimate of body fat could be having a serious error. Taking everything into account, underwater weighing is not very practical, though it is always interesting to go get it done once in a while just for fun.Bio- Electric Impedance Analysis

Bioelectric Impedance Analysis (BIA) is a modern scientific instrument which determines body fat percentage by testing the electrical resistance of your body's cells to a flow a small harmless electrical signal.

Fat has a low water content compared to muscle, so has an insulating effect, and is therefore less conductive. Research have shown that BIA is a fairly accurate and valid measure of body fat percentage. The impedance measure is affected by body hydration status, body temperature, time of day, and therefore requires well controlled conditions to get accurate and reliable measurements. If a person is dehydrated, the amount of fat will likely be overestimated.Near Infrared Interactance

Near Infrared Interactance (NIR) uses the principle of light absorption and reflection to measure body fat percentage.

The measurement is taken on the person's dominant arm. The light wand sends a beam of infrared light into the muscle where variations in the reflections of the wavelengths are used to estimate total body fat percentage. The measurement is very safe, effortless and easy to use with less practice. The limitations include the high cost of the machine, and the questionable accuracy and reliability like relating fat in arm to body fat percentage, which may not be true.Skinfold Measurement

Skinfold testing is based on the fact that most of the body fat is stored directly beneath your skin. The skinfold test is performed with a simple machine called a skinfold caliper. The jaws of the caliper pinch a fold of skin and fat and measure the thickness of the fat fold in millimeters. Using the calipers, skinfolds measurements are taken at different sites around the body and then the measurements are added up.

The sum of the skinfolds is then looked up on a body fat estimate chart that is available with the calipers. A proficient tester can produce a body fat measurement with accuracy very close to benchmark standards. Most importantly, skinfold testing is extremely practical and lot more simpler than many of the measurement techniques. However, the accuracy of the measurements may vary from tester to tester. Other Methods

There are many other methods used to measure body fat percentage, including Total Body Potassium, Dual-Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA), Total Body Electrical Conductivity (TOBEC), Whole-Body Air-Displacement Plethysmography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT scan). While some of these modern methods may be incredibly reliable and useful in the laboratory, none of these methods is practical at least for personal use for a weight loss program.Now you understand the importance of body fat versus body weight and you understand that height and weight and Body Mass Index (BMI) tables are worthless. It is also clear that losing weight is not of prime importance, but losing fat is.

Best-Kept Weight Loss Secrets-Do You believe This

My mother always used to say there were no weight loss secrets. "It's simple! You just put less in your mouth and get off your fat backside a bit more often!" She always did have a way with words, my Mom. But she was only partly right because, some overweight folks I know are very active and are extremely careful with what they eat, yet they still seem to carry the extra pounds despite it all. Then there are those twigs of society who can't put on an ounce no matter what they eat. My sister's a bit like that. Honestly, I've seem more fat on a cold chip.

Because of the way modern society portrays who we are and how we should look, there's an awful lot of pressure on individuals to buy into the slimming game. The problem with this, is that even skeletal people think they're fat, and for them to loose extra pounds in darn right dangerous in some cases. It wasn't so many years ago, that shop mannequins had a bit of meat on their plastic but even these are a flat as a carpenter's board these days.

But all this aside there are growing problems in western societies, not only with overweight adults, but we're seeing a lot of heavy kids around nowadays, and this is really not good. But it all starts with the adults, in particular Mum & Dad. The kids tend to feast on the same stuff as their parents do, so it's little wonder we're facing a major crisis with child obesity. So what are the weight loss secrets that we all yearn for? Perhaps my mother was right and we are becoming a donut munching generations of couch potatoes!

There are always new claims to weight loss secrets, but a true secret is about as probable as a cure for male pattern baldness. If there was a cure-for-all with regards to hair loss, then we'd never see another bald head in our lives (unless through choice of course!). Same goes for weight loss secrets. These can better be described as weight loss plans and there are many of them around, some better than others.

Many folks are so desperate to shed those pounds that they go to extremes. Weight loss pill, lipo suction, having the stomach stitched etc, but these really are last resort measures and all possible alternatives for weight loss should be checked out first, as some of the above mentioned can be potentially dangerous.

The secret to successful weight loss lies with you. Or my mother! Which is not really a secret at all. Despite all the fancy diets and eating plans, there is only one tried and tested method that has never really gone away, and that is to eat smaller portions, and get plenty of regular exercise. Of course, eat healthily too. If you cut down to say having 2 double cheeseburgers and large fries instead of your usual 3, well, it's not really going to help much is it. Additionally, if you embark on a new and healthy eating plan and regular exercise regime in the spring time, but decide to slump back into the couch and return your old eating habits during those winter months, then you may find you will put on more weight than you've ever had before.

Weight loss is just a beginning, but weight maintenance is the solution for a new and slimmer you. Not only will you feel great but you'll look good too. If you're one of those folks who just can't seem to get real slender, then perhaps you're supposed to be a little on the large size. We are all different shapes, weights, and heights, and if someone carries a little extra meat on their bones, but are fit and active regardless, then perhaps the secret for happiness is to simply lose what you can, accept what you can't, and know the difference.

Forget a lifetime of chasing the next weight loss secret and trying to look like string bean. Just concentrate on being you and enjoy who you are. A healthy mind is a healthy body and when you have both, you become naturally active (which is part of being human), and active people are happy people.

Considering the thousands or hundreds of dollars spent on weight-loss diets and supplements, it may be hard for you to believe that one of the best weight-loss techniques you can use is absolutely and totally free. You're actually carrying around a bit of it in your body, and it's essential for your very survival. Of course it's not always free, as some sharp marketing types have found a way to quite literally bottle it and sell it. From this description, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Try spread out your water consumption over the day. It's better to sip your glass of water over time, than to gulp the entire thing in one big chug. Remember, of course, other beverages can have the opposite effect. Anything with caffeine, like coffee or various soda drinks will actually dehydrate the body. Beer, wine, and other alcohol also fall into this category. You have to adjust your water intake accordingly depending on the amount of these other drinks you ingest.

In summary, water has to be one of the easiest ways you'll find to lose weight. Simply try it for a week, incorporating 8 glasses into your daily life. I'm sure you'll see quite a difference. I know I have.

3 Hoax Weight Loss Diets That Don't Work and Why

Do you find weight loss challenging? You lose weight, you gain weight, you lose again, and the cycle continues! If you want to break out of that cycle once and for all, you need to start focusing on a way of eating that you can continue for life, rather than opting for a short term fix.

#1 Low carb diets
Low carb plan focus is on reducing, or removing, carbohydrate from the diet, and increasing protein intake. A few examples include the South Beach diet, the Zone diet, and the Atkins plan.

Problems:

  • Difficult to stick with long term
  • Initial rapid weight loss is rarely maintained.
  • Reduced intake of carbohydrate eventually leads to protein being used for energy.
  • Lack of fibre can lead to constipation.
  • Can be high in saturated fat, which is proven to be bad for heart health.

#2 Meal replacement plans
These diets advocate substituting real food with shakes or soups. A few examples include the Slim Fast plan, Celebrity Slim, and the Tony Ferguson diet.

Problems:

  • Difficult to stick with long term
  • This is a quick fix solution, and not a good option if you want to change eating habits for life.
  • It won't teach you anything about healthy food, or portion control.
  • Weight is normally gained back again when the diet is stopped.

#3 Very low calorie diets
These diets are extremely restrictive, often focusing on a single food or food group. Examples include the Grapefruit Diet, the Cabbage Soup Diet, and the Chicken Soup Diet.

Problems:

  • Difficult to stick with long term
  • Excluding whole food groups is extremely dangerous and unhealthy.
  • If followed for an extended period could lead to malnutrition.
  • Very low cal diets do the opposite of what you want - they store up energy, and begin breaking down protein (muscle). Weight is gained quickly when you stop the diet because the body tries to replenish its energy stores.

Weight Loss Strategies - Separate the Good Fats From the Bad

Fats have been wrongly accused. They have been blamed for the millions of overweight people in the United States. The truth is that in moderation, some fats can actually be helpful. If you know how to separate the "good" fats from the "bad" fats, you can improve your health and lose weight.

Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids (PUFAs)

Polyunsaturated fats are one of the two types of "good" fats typically eaten. These fats are considered "good" because of their many health benefits.

PUFAs are best known for preventing cardiovascular disease. PUFAs can help your body lower LDL cholesterol, the "bad" cholesterol that increases your risk of cardiovascular disease. They can also help your body to raise HDL cholesterols, the "good" cholesterol that decreases your risk of cardiovascular disease.

There are two main types of PUFAs consumed by humans. They are omega-3 fatty acids and omega-6 fatty acids. Omega-3 FAs are found in fish, flaxseed, and eggs. Omega-6 FAs are found in vegetable oils, eggs, and poultry. Many foods, including soybeans, have both types of fatty acids.

PUFAs are important because of their health benefits. However, they are also important because your body cannot produce Omega-3s and Omega-6s. They are the only two essential fatty acids, so you must eat them in order to survive.

Americans eat plenty of Omega-6 FAs, but they do not eat enough Omega-3s. This imbalance in PUFA consumption is contributing to the poor health of people in the United States.

Monounsaturated Fatty Acids (MUFAs)

Monounsaturated fats are the second type of "good" fats. Similar to PUFAs, MUFAs help your body to lower LDL and raise HDL, decreasing your risk of cardiovascular disease. However, unlike PUFAs, MUFAs are not essential. These can be found in liquid vegetable oils, such as olive, peanut, and canola. They can also be found in nuts, such as walnuts, peanuts, cashews and almonds. Avocados are also rich in MUFAs.

Saturated Fatty Acids

Saturated fats are one of the two types of "bad" fats. They are considered bad because if you eat too many of them, they can be harmful to your health.

Unlike PUFAs and MUFAs, saturated fatty acids increase your risk of cardiovascular disease. They do this by helping to raise your LDL or "bad" cholesterol. These are the fats associated with animals that walk, such as beef, pork, poultry, milk, and milk products. They can also be found in plants, such as coconuts, coconut oil, and palm oil.

Artificial Trans Fatty Acids

Artificial trans fats are the worst type of fats. These man-made fats greatly increase your risk of cardiovascular disease by helping to raise your LDL "bad" cholesterol and lower your HDL "good" cholesterol.

These are created by adding hydrogen to PUFAs and MUFAs. This process removes all of the benefits of the "good" fats and makes them even worst than saturated fats. They are used because they have a high melting point and they increase the shelf life of foods prepared with them. Artificial trans fats can be found in baked goods, fried foods, fast foods, potato chips, and margarines.

All fats are not created equal. Some are good for you and others are bad for you. Eat polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats in moderation to improve your health and lose weight.

Let's take a quick look at this malicious set of beliefs people have acquired:

Number 1 - Starving Yourself To Lose Weight
A healthy amount of food actually works in your favor to produce real weight loss results. By starving your body, you are sending the message "There is no food, store more fat so that I don't die". Your muscle mass will decrease rapidly, you will become weak and your body will store every ounce of fat it can find in fat cells. 1. Eggs - The highest valued protein of all foods. Just a great choice for breakfast since they have a lot of protein and fill you up so you can avoid snacking in the late morning.

2. Black beans - Contains 25 grams of fiber and 25 grams of protein in a 50 cent can. That fiber takes care of most if not all the fiber that the average person needs in a day. I generally recommend a higher fiber intake for weight loss... over 40 grams a day. But the U.S. government says you should get at least 25 grams of fiber. So that's taken care of. Added bonus, no sugar in them.

3. Tuna - About 30 grams of protein... a lot considering the small size in the typical can. Since many people don't like tuna by itself (me included), I suggest you mix it into other things. Mix with black beans and some sour cream. Mix into a lean chopped up meat such as beef or chicken. Mix into a salad. Whatever floats your boat.

4. Apples - The king of all snacks. High in fiber and water content, I consider it the perfect snack. Other fruits are similar nutrition-wise, but apples beat them in the mobility issue... easily taking them with you anywhere.

OK, here are 5 easy weight-loss strategies that you can use straight away no matter how much weight you want to lose, how old you are or where you live.

Weight Loss Drugs - Why You Need to Be Very Careful

It sounds so easy - just take a pill and you'll be able to lose that weight and be super slim again, but alas things aren't as simple as they appear to be. While some weight loss drugs do work many have been proven to be very dangerous. They work by suppressing your appetite so you don't feel hungry with the idea that if you are not hungry you won't want to eat. Of course many times people overeat for other reasons than hunger, they eat for boredom, to heal emotions or sometimes just because the food is there in front of them.

Over the counter weight loss drugs that you can purchase without a doctor's prescription should be looked at with care. Many times these drugs are not as effective as they claim and can even compromise your health so make sure you read the information enclosed carefully for safety precautions.

And then of course there are the diet pills that work only if you are on a low fat low calorie diet. Weight Loss - Using Aerobic Exercises to Lose Weight

Everyday, it seems, we hear of some new truths, which may contradict what we have always accepted about a certain element of health and fitness. This can be related to the amount of minerals or vitamins you should or should not consume, the amount of exercise, particularly aerobic exercise, you should have and so on.

What is Aerobic Exercise?

Some popular examples of aerobic exercise include walking, cycling, aerobic dancing and swimming. The exercises should include leg muscles, hips, and arm muscles along with large volumes of inhalation and exhalation.

Advantages of Aerobic Exercise

There is a whole range of benefits that come from doing aerobic exercises including better blood circulation and respiration. Other benefits are enhanced muscle shape and tone plus a feeling of good overall health. But the most significant benefit of aerobic exercise is its effect on weight loss.

A Common Truth Disproved

Until recently is was generally assumed that if you exercised with medium intensity for prolonged periods of time this would be the most effective means to burn off fat. However, several studies and findings from fitness experts have shown that continuous hours of aerobic exercise such as jogging is not as successful in burning off fat as it was once thought to be. Many people report that even after long periods of jogging they still had excessive fat on their bodies.

Best Fat Burning Method

Instead of these long periods of exercise it was found that high-intensity exercise for shorter periods was not only less time consuming but also it proved more effective for fat loss. The reasoning is that the metabolism is kept at a higher level for a longer period of time, which resulted in more calories burned. Some examples of these high-intensity exercises are weight training and aerobic intervals exercise.

Another great exercise is spinning on a stationary bike. This should be done for a period of not less than 20 minutes along with sprints of 30 to 60 seconds duration. This is an easy routine to do and won't impact your joints like jogging on a hard surface. If you enjoy running and you aren't bothered with joint pain you're better off on a surface such as grass, dirt, or a running track. Try to avoid running on hard surfaces as much as possible to prevent developing joint and spinal injuries.

Aerobic Exercise and Your Heart

In addition to weight loss your cardiovascular system stands to benefit tremendously from your aerobic exercises. Your heart, of course, is a muscle and is capable of working for many decades. Your heart does not have to be trained like other muscles in your body unless you participate in endurance events. It may be necessary to train the heart to withstand severe emotional and physical stress. High intensity exercises will help your heart to endure many challenging situations.
